Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Coordinator of Dual Enrollment & Early College position. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System. The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

 

Responsibilities:

The Coordinator of Dual Enrollment and Early College works in collaboration with College administrators, district school systems, area private schools, counselors, students and parents in the continuous planning and implementation of the Dual Enrollment.  Directs the daily functions of the dual enrollment department that includes recruitment of students, establishing high school partnerships, implementing admissions, and trainings and orientations. The Coordinator of Dual Enrollment will develop and implement uniform campus enrollment processes and structures that provide service and support to all dual enrollment students. This position must monitor and ensure statutory compliance in all program areas.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate the daily operations of the dual enrollment educational initiative for the university; that includes recruitment of students; communicate with high school partnerships, offer trainings/orientations, and dual enrollment informational presentations within high schools, middle schools, or in the greater community as needed.
  • Establish new partnerships for the dual enrollment and nurture continuing partnerships with school districts and high school- based programs.
  • Implement the enrollment management processes from selections, admissions, course request, registration of students, and final reporting.
  • Determine the eligibility of students and review all assessment scores and transcripts to determine student eligibility based upon statute and articulation agreements.
  • Maintains open lines of communications with principals, counselor, parents, and students to structure data and working logs for placement.
  • Monitor student records for credit hour limitations, poor performance, early admissions

qualification and graduation compliance.

  • Develop relationships internal and external personnel (Admissions, Deans, E-learning and Registrars) to ensure curriculum planning and courses set-up for enrollment and registration process. Register students into courses and tracking the registration count.
  • Prepare the dual enrollment university reports, Board of Regents, LOSFA, SCA, and SU System statistical enrollment reports.
  • Provide programmatic leadership through participation on committees, task forces and

community agency advisory boards as appropriate for the growth and development of the

dual enrollment program.

  • Perform related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree required supplemented by experience in the following: Working in academically talented students, Student Success/Advising services for dual enrollment students include: Enrollment services, student advising, student registration, course encoding, course registration and demonstrated evidence of being a self-starter and problem-solver.
