Summary

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Graphic Services and Multi-Media Coordinator SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System.  The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and University Relations, the Graphic Services and Multi-Media Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the Institution’s printed/displayed image is upheld to the highest standards on campus and throughout its service areas. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all stakeholders, vendors and University employees adhere to the guidelines as set forth in the University’s Graphics Standards Guide for print, imaging, publications and duplication services.

The Graphic Services and Multi-Media Coordinator will work in cooperation with the Office of Marketing and University Relations to increase visibility and ensure consistency of the SUSLA brand at the local, state, national and international levels.

Specific Duties:

This position assists in the evaluating, planning and coordinating of participant plans.

  • Responsible for managing the daily operations of the University’s Graphics Services Department. Provide creative direction, project management and design of a diverse range of visual communications for the campus community.
  • Responsible for implementing best practices and procedures to ensure that all vendors, external stakeholders, campus programs and services operating under the SUSLA brand are aware of and adhere to the University standards related to print, publications, and duplication of services.
  • Responsible for design and layout of university publications/materials using a variety of software, multi-media and production tools including: CAD, PC/Macintosh, scanners, digital duplicators and small to large-size production printers.
  • Assist the various departments with drafting and layout of small production jobs including: newsletters, university letterhead, programs and special events, invitations, calendars, report covers, flyers, announcements, semester schedules, catalogs, departmental brochure revisions, certificates, tickets, class forms, etc.
  • Provide duplication and/or finishing services within the Document Management Center (binding, tabbing, folding and collating, cutting, etc.) large quantities of materials/information which is located within Graphics Services.
  • Responsible for special processing of materials such as stock photography, photographs, and camera-ready materials for production.
  • Provide design, layout and assist with editing of the University’s monthly publication, The Chancellor’s Report and SUSLA E-NEWS.
  • Work in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and University Relations with design of messaging for recruiting and enrollment campaigns to be utilized in multiple modes of media including: print, high-res interactive digital media, mobile devices, social media, TV, internal and external monitors and message boards.
  • Utilize the latest best practices and integrated communications strategies combining cutting-edge marketing and public relations, digital/multi-media communications management elements.
  • Responsible for updating, maintenance and tracking of graphic library, stocking and maintaining inventory /supplies and, overseeing maintenance of production equipment
  • Develop and administer Department’s annual budget; maintain monthly charge-back system for university departments for duplicating/finishing services.
  • Provide training and supervision to temporary and seasonal staff assigned to area
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute both as an individual and as a team member to assist in achieving the goals of the University.
  • This position requires lifting and standing for extended periods of time
  • Prepare special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a degree in Marketing with Graphic Design and/or Digital Media Marketing Concentration, or related field from an accredited university
  • Must demonstrate a proven track record and examples of work utilizing the latest technology for digital media marketing and campaigns in a university setting
  • Must possess at least five years related experience in a professional work setting
  • Strong attention to detail is essential; must be able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethics in data collection and analysis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a Master’s degree in Marketing or Communications with a concentration Graphic Design and/or Digital Media Marketing
  • This position requires lifting and standing for extended periods of time.

Salary range:     $40,000-$42,000
