Summary

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Intake Support Specialist position. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System.  The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intake Support Specialist is a part-time/temporary position. The intake support specialist is responsible for greeting visitors and providing general assistance to students and parents inquiring about admission status, registration, and financial aid. This includes assisting with processing students’ applications, completion and accepting awards in Banner. The Intake Support Specialist will answer and make telephone calls and complete travel forms. This person will retrieve and distribute mail.

PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES: 

  • Professionally greet all visitors
  • Process applications for new and former students
  • Advise students on the admissions process by providing current information using exemplary customer service through phone, email, Banner system and in person. Responding to all inquires within 24 hours.
  • Answer and make telephone calls
  • Complete travel forms
  • Retrieve and distribute mail
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions and Recruitment

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma; required
  • Excellent customer service skills; required
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must be dependable and able to maintain confidentiality in data collection
  • Strong attention to detail is essential

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Two years of office experience in a higher education
  • Specific knowledge or experience in postsecondary educational assistance processes such as financial aid, registration and admissions
