Summary
Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Part-Time Dental Hygiene Instructor. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana. It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System. The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clinical and didactic teaching
- Provide instructional supervision
- Effectively collaborate with instructors and be actively involved in the teaching process
- Participate in professional activities, meetings and events required by the college, division, and program administrators
- Perform other related duties as required and as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- REQUIRED: Registered Dental Hygienist from an Accredited Dental Hygiene Program.
- Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Ability to provide student instruction and hands-on dental hygiene skill evaluations
- Ability to assess radiographs for technique errors and maintain accurate legal documentation
- Must maintain good patient/student communication
- Must set an example as a professional role model
- Ability to work under stress, work independently and as a team member, and deal with people in a professional manner
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Must be in good physical condition and be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, stretch, and get down on hands and knees and lift 50 lbs.
This position is grant funded and continued employment is contingent upon sponsor approval and consistent funding levels.
