Summary

Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) is accepting applications for the Instructor for College Success. SUSLA is a comprehensive community college serving Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas in Northwest Louisiana.  It is one of five campuses constituting the Historically Black Southern University System.  The University serves approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and offers 32 undergraduate degrees and certificate programs in a variety of fields including Allied Health, Nursing, Aerospace Technology, Business Studies, Behavioral Science/Education and Science & Technology.

 

Responsibilities

As the primary instructor for FROR 120 College Success, the part-time position will include teaching and developing the curriculum for freshman seminar course in addition to coordinating with the Center for Student Success to achieve the goals and objectives of the strategic plan. 

 Specific duties are:

  • Teach College Success courses fall and spring semesters
  • Plan and coordinate the redesign of the College Success course along with the Center for Student Success
  • Assist with the development of objectives, outcomes and content scope for the implementation of the curriculum
  • Hold office hours
  • Participate in University activities or events
  •  Other duties as needed or required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Two or more years of teaching experience
  • Evidence of impacting student’s learning
  • Ability to effectively communicate, written and oral
  • Proficient in using computer applications

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary teaching experience
  • Experience teaching college transition courses for freshmen
  • Ability to interact cooperatively, collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with others and the general public

 

Salary:  $15,000
