Chancellor's Biography


Dr. Aubra Gantt is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She began her educational career at Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA), where she learned one of her passions was to serve students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds. She is a believer in the community college mission because she is a product of a community college.

Gantt has more than 25 years of progressive experience in postsecondary education, and has served in various state government, academic affairs, student affairs, enrollment management, and clinical behavioral and mental health positions. Currently, she serves as a Clinician at various hospitals in Phoenix, AZ where she is responsible for building and cultivating productive relationships with medical doctors, psychiatrists, social workers, and registered nurses to create medical and psychosocial treatment plans to support patient rehabilitation. She held the position of Dean of Enrollment Management at Scottsdale Community College in the Maricopa Community College District, one of the largest 2-year college systems in the United Sates.

Gantt is also the founding Vice President for Academic Outreach and Student Success of the Tarrant County College Connect Campus in Fort Worth, Texas, one of the most comprehensive community colleges in the nation. In this position, she served as the chief student services officer responsible for strategic student planning for eLearning and Weekend College, supporting approximately 20,000 students each semester, from diverse backgrounds and various cultures. Gantt provided leadership to the Intercultural Student Engagement and Academic Success Center at TCC Connect, including the premier program, Men of Color Collaborative Network, with a goal to provide a high level of student enrichment and engagement for Latino and African American males.

Gantt’s responsibilities for TCC Connect involved oversight of, but is not limited to enrollment management, advising and counseling, Title IX, financial aid, student activities, retention workshops, new student orientation, academic and community outreach, and institutional research. Her duties included management of a student affairs budget of one-million dollars and supervision of approximately a 30 member staff. Gantt served as a member of the district-wide executive student services leadership team, responsible for college-wide strategic planning of all student services. Gantt is responsible for chartering the first and only Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) virtual chapter in the state of Texas and the Southwest Region. PTK is the international honor society of students attending open-access institutions and seeking associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, or other credentials. Gantt’s work as vice president lead to numerous presentation requests on starting a new campus and building student services from the ground up.

Gantt also served as Registrar at the TCC Northwest Campus for 13 years. In this position, she performed critical enrollment management functions for a district which serves approximately 48,000 students. Her responsibilities included all services of the Registrar’s Office including enrollment management, implementation of successful student matriculation strategies, leadership of 12 departmental personnel, and management of an $800,000 budget. Her leadership in admissions and records garnered her expertise to train new registrars at state conferences across Texas. Gantt served both as a member of the TCC Northwest Campus’ Executive Leadership Team and the College’s President’s Council from 2001 and 2007, respectively. Additionally, she has provided students with academic advising, and she has managed intervention programs designed for students on academic dismissal and transfer suspension. Gantt strives to maintain positive, productive relationships with campus academic and student affairs personnel and students.

Prior to her tenure at Maricopa Community College District and Tarrant County College District.  Gantt served in a number of positions at Southern University at Shreveport. She was an Educational Talent Search Counselor with the TRIO programs, where she mentored, advised, and personally counseled talented, but at-risk youth. Gantt has extensive experience developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and workshops for non-traditional students, including career exploration, study skills, and time-management for special populations. Her leadership and collaboration with a team of fellow colleagues was awarded a federal grant of $1 million, earning her a promotion into the program’s director position.

Gantt has 15 years of college teaching and counseling experience as an adjunct instructor with Tarrant County College, Tarleton State University, and Grand Canyon University. She holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from Southern University and A&M College, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Southern University at New Orleans, and a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from the University of North Texas.

Dr. Aubra Gantt is a dedicated leader with experience and expertise in promoting student success, establishing partnerships with community business and industry, local school districts, and universities, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and the community at large. She has received numerous awards for her work in student and academic affairs and has a proven commitment to serve and engage non-traditional and underrepresented students in community colleges and four-year institutions. Gantt’s professional objective is to serve as an administrator for an institution where values align in relationship to integrity, diversity, inclusivity, creating opportunities for students, collaboration, and innovation.
